Troubleshooting Connectivity in Real Time

  1. Stop using your webcam.
  2. Join by phone audio as well as computer video. To solve the audio issues this creates:
    a. mute your computer microphone (“mute” in the zoom screen)
    b. mute your computer speaker (the speaker icon at the bottom right of a PC, top right of a Mac.)
  3. Close any other unneeded applications. If available, use a separate device (tablet/PC/phone) for essential applications.
  4. If you know how to do so, check if cloud file synchronization (e.g. Carbonite, CrashPlan) or cloud backups (e.g. OneDrive, Dropbox) are currently running.
  5. If possible, move to another room closer to the router.

More generally, if they can connect by ethernet, that is the single best improvement other than getting a high speed line. See the following link for more general tips.
